Work status

The work site cableways and cranes near Rifugio Torino are being assembled.

A Puma in the ice

The Swiss Super Puma helicopter assembled the first crane at the New Rifugio Torino and laid the two derricks that will allow the cableway to pass over the rocks on which the refuge is constructed.

A new path for the botanical garden Sausurrea

A new scenic trail over a cliff of monolithic rocks overlooking the Val Ferret side will lead tourists to the highest Alpine botanic garden in Europe.

Work status

Work continues to complete the service cableways at Pointe Helbronner as winter is in its last throes. The T3 cableway will transport material from the Pavillon work site to the Rifugio Torino site in less than fifteen minutes, ensuring that materials can be delivered even under unfavourable weather conditions.

Removal of plants and glacial silt and excavation continue at Pontal d’Entreves, to prepare for the foundations of the car park facility for the new station.

B3 helicopters are alternating in carrying the concrete needed for the development of the base of the first crane and of the work site cableway at the New Rifugio Torino.

Here we are at the Pavilion

The Pavillon’s plateau next to the charming botanic garden has been reached by the first group of heavy machinery, which used the steep worksite roads to reach an altitude of 2181 metres to set up the largest focal site for logistics and supplies for the high altitude areas.

Every inch is important

Mini excavators, pick-axes and a lot of willpower are required to dig even just a few metres into the ice-cold rock and set up a high altitude work site. Meanwhile, down in the valley, where the winter is almost over, work on excavation and setting up the site continues.

Marching to the Pavilion

So as to bring machinery to the Pavillon du Mont Frety work site an old road is being restored to cross the difficult “Canalino dei camosci”.
